Michael John Ryan

Founder & Privacy Officer, DenialHelp, LLC

Bio

Mic founded DenialHelp, LLC in 2026 to address a specific problem: insurance denials are usually a paperwork issue, not a clinical one. The right appeal letter — citing the specific federal regulation, naming the specific plan policy, addressing the specific denial reason — overturns most denials, but the skill of writing that letter at scale across every insurer is what most prescribers don't have time to develop.

DenialHelp encodes that skill into software. The patient uploads the denial. The system extracts the structured facts, identifies the regulatory framework that applies, and drafts an appeal letter the prescriber can review, sign, and submit in minutes.

As Privacy Officer, Mic is responsible for HIPAA compliance posture, BAA execution with vendors that touch PHI, the Incident Response Plan, and the company's technical safeguards (SQLCipher AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, full audit logging on every PHI access).

Editorial role

Mic is the bylined author on DenialHelp's appeal-strategy guides, including the per-insurer / per-drug / per-denial-reason guides at denialhelp.com/help. He reviews and signs off on the regulatory citations, plan-policy interpretation, and procedural arguments in each guide.

Clinical claims (drug mechanisms, diagnostic interpretation, treatment severity assessment) referenced in the guides come from peer-reviewed literature and specialty society practice guidelines (APA, AACAP, ASRM, ACR, ACG, ASAM, NCCN). Direct clinical advice on individual patient cases requires consultation with the patient's prescribing physician — DenialHelp is not a substitute for medical care.
